Hitting a wall? Say bye bye to entrepreneurial burnout with our 3 favorite self-care tips.
We get it: as a solopreneur, it can be a huge struggle to wear fifteen different hats.
Launching your own business can have major side effects on your personal well-being. The hustle is real, but taking care of yourself shouldn’t be a low priority on your (very full) to-do list.
Here are our 3 favorite ways to remind our solopreneur Colleagues to take a step back from the chaos and focus on recharging (even if only for a few minutes).
Put Your Journey in Perspective
Sometimes, we all feel down on ourselves – especially if we don’t feel satisfied with where we’re at in our businesses. During those times, do yourself a favor and take a few moments to breathe deeply and reflect on your current circumstances.
Remember where you started, and think about how far you’ve already come. Then acknowledge where you are now as just part of your journey.
Enjoy the ride because it will go by faster than you think! And remember, everyone has a different pace for achieving their goals – be comfortable with yours. One of the joys of entrepreneurship is defining success on your own terms, so as long as you keep taking steps forward toward your dream, that’s what matters.
Ditch The Toxic Comparison
Let’s be honest – comparing ourselves to others can be a slippery slope into jealousy (and who has time for that?). There are many paths to success, so don’t get caught up in someone else’s journey. Instead, focus on what works for you and don’t be afraid to switch things up. After all, it’s your company, you can do what you want!
When you notice yourself comparing your business to others’, take a minute to look at your personal definition of success – what do you really want?
Jot down your ideas. When you’ve come up with YOUR personal definition of success, hang it up somewhere you can see it every day. Then start breaking down your goal into small chunks. It’s important to keep your big goals in sight, but remember that we all take things day by day. What do you want to accomplish today?
We’re big fans of breaks and time off, but we’re even bigger fans of nurturing hobbies outside of our entrepreneurial passions. Hobbies allow you to express yourself through a different outlet or better yet, they may even allow you to shut off your mind for a bit.
When we push ourselves too far or forget to take breaks, not only does our work suffer, but we suffer as well. We all deserve some time to reboot. Find a secondary passion that you enjoy but don’t have a desire to turn into a business. Now make time for that activity once a month, once a week, or even once a day. Allow your mind, body, and soul to focus on something else for a designated period of time. You’ll feel more refreshed and energized in your business and your life.
Whether you’re still launching your business or you’re already a few paces in, it can be easy to work so hard that you end up hitting a wall. So, let’s add some fuel to your entrepreneurial jetpack! Take time for yourself and give yourself permission to be a priority on your own to-do list.
