Meet Stephanie Cavoli, LMT of Sanctuary Massage

LEAP for Women Take 5 Interview with Stephanie Cavoli

Stephanie is a licensed massage therapist in the state of New York. She spent two years falling in love with mother nature during a sacred plant medicine apprenticeship. She loves to incorporate this into all aspects of her life.

Let’s Take 5 with Stephanie

What is one piece of advice you’d give to your first-year-in-business self?

Have a plan! Have goals! Create systems that can be put into place to make the everyday operations run more smoothly. From the start, checklists, scripts, and organizing files and paperwork would have given me so much more time.

What is your favorite app or tool?

Aside from my online booking site (styleseat.com), Evernote has been my favorite. I can keep information handy across devices and easily organize thoughts and information for both herbal and massage needs.

What is one mistake you’ve made that you’ve learned from?

When I first left school and started my practice, I tried to be everything for every client.  While my passion and skills aligned with more gentle therapeutic work, I still took deep-tissue clients. I was upset every time someone booked, and nobody was coming back. Finally, I had the guts to tell a new client I’d be happy to refer her to another therapist for deep-tissue work. It wasn’t what I specialized in and she deserved the best care possible. When she called back thanking me for my rare honesty, she ended up referring a ton of clients my way who needed what I was offering and didn’t know where to find it. I learned that it’s okay if some clients don’t like your work. When you are true to your heart and your skills, clients feel it and respond positively. I learned to be more confident and to define my target audience.

If they made a movie of your life, who would you want to play you?

Ellie Kemper: She knows how to be both sweet and completely ridiculous at the same time.

What’s one thing you wish more women entrepreneurs knew?

It’s okay to ask for help. Reach out for support from your fellow business ladies and don’t be afraid to invest in a coach.
